2001 Renovation,
Northgate Mall
Completed in July of 2001, the project consisted of a phased renovation of all areas of the mall interior as well as exterior streetscape and entrance modifications.
The renovation included restructuring center court with a new clerestory skylight roof with exposed bow trusses to increase natural lighting. The interior columns received new column wraps, the floor was resurfaced with new tile and carpet through out. The food court received new lighting, flooring, and new seating. The theme for the food court follows a garden café scheme.
The mall has been a highly successful facility for 40 years and is a very comfortable environment for shopping. We chose to identify and exploit the strengths of the existing mall in this renovation. The interior of the mall includes carpet islands to establish defined areas for seating, cart retail, and special events. These areas are designed to create and reinforce a very comfortable environment in which to shop and spend time.
Seating and fabric have been chosen by our interior studio to promote the overall theme of a comfortable environment as well as considering the durability of high traffic areas. Soft seating was chosen in several styles to be placed through out the mall.
New landscaping, sidewalks, paved crosswalks, amenities, and exterior lighting were planned to extend the interior scheme to the exterior.
