Lineberry Parrish Residence
Cary, North Carolina
This residence, designed for an active family, has an open floor plan to allow continuous views throughout the home and to the wooded landscape. The design of the home is centered around a large open room with full-length windows along each side wall. The room features a barrel-vaulted ceiling of maple paneling and solid wood trim. Another unique feature of this home is the freestanding kitchen, also constructed of maple.
The main floor of this home was constructed using steel beams to allow a continuous, open basement – used as an active play area. The rear deck was cantilevered by the use of tapered steel beams, allowing an unrestricted view of the site from the lower level. This design accomplished the need to create a very livable home with non-standard spatial qualities and natural use of materials.
